Water, like air, is a necessity of life. Amidst all the changes, this is a constant fact.
The concept of the well and its life giving properties, its place within tightly knit social structures and its symbolism was the point of departure for Blok and Brasser when they put together this exhibition.
Brassers geometric shapes aren’t abstract derivates of natural shapes, instead they are a rediscovery of the logical and sensual essence of wood. In his work we seem to be witnesses of his attempts to extricate Form from within the material it is surrounded by.
Performance and video artist Blok is interested in movement and non-movement, and grasping the essence of corporeal experience. Time plays a significant role and in her performances the audience often experiences a suspension of it. In her installations and performances quietness and stillness reign but an undercurrent of intensity is always palpable.
