FRAMESDiana Blok, photographer. 06.11.2004 – 4.12.2004 Kuntur Gallery presents FRAMES, a new art project by Monica Blok and Diana Blok. What is it exactly that is so fascinating about frames? Does a frame form the beginning of a story? Is it a life form? Frames are a part of life. Life starts and develops within frames. A frame is not just context it’s also the perspective through which our perception is formed. Do frames exist irrespective of our experiences, or do we make the perspectives ourselves and then frame our experiences accordingly? Sisters Diana and Monica Blok have joined forces and created an installation. Both have a long track record in the visual arts. Monica Blok has worked for many years in theatre and as a performance artist, Diana Blok in photography. They have combined their talents frequently in the past in order to create video performances. In both their individual work, family has been a constant inspiration and common ground. In FRAMES they will use both photography and video for an autobiographical installation. Reminiscences of the years they both spent in Montevideo, Bogotá, Guatemala-City, Mexico-City and Amsterdam. Artist website: |
